Last night, my PC was infected by a malware called TrojanDNSChanger. I recalled that it’s came from one of the Entrecard member’s blog page. But I couldn’t pin point which one because I’m loading thirty pages at a time. This malware causing my browser displayed a popup window pointing to h-t-t-p://popup.adv.net/popup.php?r=blablabla (a page that promotes those stupid cute smileys) every time I load a new page. It makes my firefox running very slow and all my password for login to a forum website became invalid/wrong password.
Luckily, I’ve found a thread at the Entrecard forum open by Caledonnian Comment who has a same problem with me and have find a way to resolve it. He faced this problem almost at a same time as mine. I wrote a short massage to him about the problem and this kind hearted guy replied to me and gave me a link on how to resolve this malware infection.
The link that he gave brought me to a Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware website. It’s freeware, so I quickly downloaded it and run the software. I’m quite surprise seeing a result that this software produced. There are nineteen others Trojan and adware on my PC. Luckily, it all can be removed easily with this Anti-Malware. Kaspersky anti-virus is always running on my PC, and now I knew, anti-virus alone can’t handle this malware attack. I’m suggesting that we all need to have this Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware running on our PC.

I use Windows Defender and Avast Anti-Virus. Both are free and I never have problems with programmes loading themself onto my PC. (I learned the hard way after getting a virus two or so years ago - I had tried to download a cracked version of an already free programme - of course it was going to be a virus / malware).
ReplyDeleteI have norton 360 anti virus... I have a problem also when i drop to certain sites my computer hang up and sometimes the norton will alarm me that the page is having a virus and its dangerous to pursue. Thanks for the info. Thanks also for the comments...
ReplyDeleteI find DNS changers more dangerous than the viruses. I am glad you sorted it out.
ReplyDeleteHi Bintang,
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get rid of that malware. Thanks for sharing this information with us and the link. I will go check this out. :-)
Hi. I had the same problem and I´m sure it came from an Entrecard blog, just don´t know which was either. I blogged about it in my last post.
ReplyDeleteI have Panda, paid antivirus, I cleaned the system but sometimes when I open both browsers IE closes due to an error message.
I will check this freeware, thanks for letting us know, this way I know it wasn´t only me and how you solved it.
I also come across a blog with a trojan and like you, I don't know which one. My anti-virus software (McAfee) always blocks it so it does not get downloaded. I'll find out one of these days which blog it is.
ReplyDeleteIs there any recommend free software? Currently, I'm using Avast Home Edition and happy with it.
ReplyDeleteI hate all these things..I had to reformat my lappy twice because of it.. coz each time I go to safe mode.. it locks me out..
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)
I haven't had anything atack me yet. But, I am starting to get very aggravated at some sites that have added these nasty little pop ups.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I hit 3 or 4. I guess they started this to try to get around EC's rules about pages being full of adds.
Like you though Bintang I have 20 or 30 windows open at one time and cannot track down the sites that have it.
I am going to come back later and download this and run it.
Thanks for the tip!!:-)
OH this is scary. I not kind of aware with this malware thing and where they come from. We once had a virus I don't know what my husband did to to get rid of it. I want to know...
ReplyDeleteKaspersky caught just such a site for me this morning. I adore Kaspersky. It squealed like a piggie and stopped the site from loading.
ReplyDeleteWell worth the $80 subscription price! It beats the HECK out of Norton, McAfee, etc.
Ok, looks like i need to get an anti-malware too. I wonder if all this malware will infect a pc run on Mac OS though...
ReplyDeleteWow.. Thanks for the recommendation. I will download it ASAP. I love to equip myself with these kind of protection. You never know when you will have it
ReplyDeleteI also use Malwarebytes on my PC. Thanks to recommendation from Ben Barden.
